North Carolina Electrical Exam Prep Self-Study Bundle (2020 NEC)

$495.00
Available as:
Prepare for your North Carolina electrical licensing exam with JCR's complete 2020 NEC self-study exam prep bundle.

Prepare for your North Carolina Limited, Intermediate, or Unlimited electrical exam with the same full bundle of materials used in our NC classroom courses. Built for the NCBEEC exam through PSI, this bundle focuses on NEC navigation, calculations, and realistic exam practice — on the 2020 NEC, the edition the NC exam tests on.

The NCBEEC exam is two tests in one: an open-book code portion (2020 NEC and 2013 NFPA 72, where navigation speed decides who passes) and closed-book questions on NC licensing law, Board rules, and NASCLA-based business and project management. This bundle prepares you for both — including the business and law instruction most exam prep skips entirely.

Note that your NCBEEC approval covers one exam attempt inside a 90-day window. A failed exam means a new application and a three-month wait before you can test again. Walk in ready the first time.

This bundle includes the same core JCR curriculum materials used by our classroom students with a 93% pass rate:

  • 152-page JCR Exam Prep Manual: a unit-by-unit study path with a six-week schedule, video prompts, guided practice, and answer keys. It covers NEC navigation, test-taking strategy, Ohm's Law, electrical formulas, ampacity, overcurrent protection, dwelling and service calculations, grounding and bonding, boxes, raceways, conduit fill, motors, appliances, special occupancies, NFPA 72, business practices and construction management, and math review.
  • 100 study videos spanning 20+ hours: step-by-step instruction across the major exam topics, so you can follow the manual, pause, rewind, and revisit difficult calculations as often as needed.
  • 500+ realistic mock exam questions: practice on paper with the Mock Exam Booklet and online with JCR's digital mock exam app so you can build code-search speed, test your timing, and identify weak areas before exam day.
  • JCR code book tabs: permanent tabs — the only kind PSI allows in the NC exam room — that help you move quickly to heavily tested NEC articles, tables, and sections.

NC Self-Study Exam Prep FAQ

Quick answers before you order.

Which licenses is this bundle built for?

The North Carolina Limited, Intermediate, and Unlimited electrical contracting exams administered by PSI for the NCBEEC. It covers the open-book NEC/code portion — navigation, calculations, practice questions, mock exam work, and code book organization — plus the business, law, and construction-management instruction relevant to the closed-book portion of the NC exam.

What's on the closed-book portion?

Questions drawn from the NC Electrical Contractors Licensing Law (G.S. 87, Art. 4), the Board Rules (21 NCAC 18B), and the NASCLA Contractors Guide to Business, Law and Project Management: NC Electrical Edition — no references allowed for those questions. Our business and law instruction covers that territory.

Is this the same as taking a live JCR exam prep workshop?

It uses the same core JCR curriculum materials, including the manual, video lessons, practice questions, mock exam access, and code book tabs. The live workshops add classroom instruction and direct instructor support.

How long should I study?

Most successful students study for 4–8 weeks. Start with the manual and video lessons, then use the 500+ question mock exam and digital practice tools to find weak spots and build speed before exam day. Remember: your NCBEEC approval gives you a 90-day window and one attempt.

What code book do I need?

The 2020 NEC (and the 2013 NFPA 72). The Board has kept exams on the 2020 edition until further notice — confirm the current edition and reference rules in the NCBEEC Exam Information Handbook before you study and again before test day.
