Before you register
Is this for my NC electrical license exam?
The workshop develops NEC navigation, code lookup and calculation skills for NC Limited, Intermediate and Unlimited electrical examinations. It is exam preparation, not the licensing exam itself or a substitute for required experience and application approval.
Start with our NC electrical licensing guide for the licensing process. Preparing for a special restricted classification? Ask JCR about your exam fit before registering.
What should I bring, and do I need both days?
Plan to attend both full days. For the listed workshops, arrive by 7:45am for check-in; instruction runs 8am–4pm with lunch on your own from noon–1pm.
Bring your 2020 NEC codebook, a calculator and something to take notes with. Codebooks are not included in the workshop price. See JCR's exam reference materials for additional books.
If you cannot attend both days, contact JCR before booking to discuss another date or the NC self-study bundle; don't assume a one-day registration or makeup option.
How much should I study before my exam?
Most successful students study for 6–8 weeks, with around 1 hour of focused study every night. The two-day workshop complements that practice; it is not a replacement for preparation and can help at different stages of your studies.
Use the workbook, videos and practice questions to find weak areas. Try the free practice exam first, or use the self-study materials if a Greensboro or Winston-Salem date doesn't fit.
Do you offer continuing education in the Triad?
There is no separate CE-only class currently listed for Greensboro or Winston-Salem. Already licensed? The two-day Detailed NEC workshops above offer 18 NC classroom CEUs; see your selected class for attendance and reporting details.
For a CE-focused course instead, explore JCR continuing education options, including Raleigh classes and self-paced online courses. Choose a course approved for your license and jurisdiction.
Can I see how JCR teaches before I book?
