Is Exam 211 a statewide Pennsylvania exam? No. Pennsylvania does not issue a statewide electrician license. Exam 211 is the Philadelphia electrical-contractor exam; other municipalities set their own rules.
What should I bring to the exam? Use the exact approved editions of the 2020 NEC and Ugly’s Electrical Reference listed in the current ICC bulletin and follow its marking rules.
Does passing the exam complete the license? No. Philadelphia also requires qualifying experience, recent NFPA 70 coursework, insurance, tax compliance, and business documents.
How long should I study? Most successful students plan on roughly 4–8 weeks and build up to full-length timed practice for the five-hour exam.
