Where the NASCLA exam is accepted

NASCLA lists 19 participating agencies. These accept the Electrical Contractor exam in place of their own trade exam: Alabama, Arizona, District of Columbia, Idaho, Kentucky, Louisiana, Mississippi, Missouri, Nebraska, New Mexico, North Carolina, South Carolina (Contractors’ Licensing Board), Tennessee, Vanderburgh County (Indiana), Virginia and West Virginia.

Florida and the South Carolina Residential Builders Commission use the Residential exam only. Utah accepts it only through endorsement.

The NASCLA exam replaces the trade exam only. You still apply to each state, and many states also require their own business and law exam. See the state-by-state list.
