Payment options:

Prepare for Connecticut's E-1 or E-2 electrical trade exam with a complete 2020 NEC self-study system.

Build the code-navigation speed, calculation fluency, and test-taking confidence you need for Connecticut's open-book electrical trade exam. This $495 bundle combines JCR's exam-prep manual, 100 study videos, 500+ practice questions, digital mock exam access, and permanent Code tabs.

Important for E-1 candidates

Connecticut also requires a separate Business & Law exam for the E-1 license. This JCR course prepares you for the electrical trade/NEC portion only. It does not include Connecticut Business & Law instruction, the Connecticut NASCLA Contractors Guide, application or eligibility review, or complete coverage of every Connecticut-specific rule and reference listed by PSI. E-2 candidates take the trade exam only.

What is included

  • 152-page JCR Exam Prep Manual: a unit-by-unit study path with a six-week schedule, guided practice, video prompts, and answer keys.
  • 100 study videos spanning 20+ hours: step-by-step instruction you can pause, rewind, and revisit.
  • 500+ realistic practice questions: paper and digital practice to build speed, timing, and accuracy.
  • Permanent NFPA 70 and NFPA 72 Code tabs: faster access to heavily tested articles, tables, and sections.

Connecticut E-1 and E-2 trade exams

E-1 trade exam 100 questions · 4 hours · 70% to pass
E-2 trade exam 80 questions · 3.5 hours · 70% to pass

Both trade exams are open book. PSI's bulletin updated February 4, 2026 lists either the 2020 or 2023 NEC as allowed for E-1 and E-2. JCR's course is built around the 2020 NEC, so it is the best fit for candidates studying with and bringing the 2020 edition. PSI can change exam details and allowed references; review the current official Connecticut PSI bulletin before test day.

What you will study

NEC navigation, test strategy, Ohm's Law, electrical formulas, ampacity, overcurrent protection, dwelling and service calculations, grounding and bonding, boxes, raceways, conduit fill, motors, appliances, special occupancies, NFPA 72, and electrical math review.

A practical study path

Work through the manual and videos first, then use the mock exams to identify weak areas and build open-book lookup speed. Most successful students plan several weeks of consistent study rather than trying to cram.

Does this cover Connecticut Business & Law?

No. E-1 candidates must prepare separately for Connecticut's Business & Law exam using the references in the current PSI bulletin. JCR's bundle focuses on the electrical trade/NEC exam. E-2 candidates do not take a separate Business & Law exam.

Is this a Connecticut licensing or application course?

No. JCR provides electrical exam-prep study materials. Connecticut DCP decides eligibility and licensing, and PSI administers the exams. Use the Connecticut electrical licensing page for current application requirements.

Can I get live instructor help?

Yes. Browse JCR's live virtual electrical exam-prep classes if you prefer a scheduled class with an instructor.
