The Washington License Process
Choose Electrician, Administrator, or Master.These are different credentials. A contractor business needs an Administrator or designated Master; the 01-General Electrician is the individual working certificate.Compare Washington credentials

Common questions

Does JCR cover Washington laws and rules?

No. JCR covers NEC/theory and, for Administrator and Master, major-load calculations. Study RCW 19.28 and WAC 296-46B separately.

What NEC edition is on the current exam?

The current L&I/PSI examination materials list the 2020 NEC, even though Washington’s installation-code adoption may change on a different schedule.

What is the difference between Electrician and Administrator?

The Electrician certificate qualifies the individual to perform the work. An Administrator is the responsible role attached to an electrical contracting business unless a designated Master fills that role.

Can I pass overall if one section is below 70%?

No. Each applicable section is scored separately, and each requires at least 70%.
