Prepare for your 2017 NEC-based electrical exam in Tennessee, Wisconsin, Nevada, or any other jurisdiction testing on the 2017 NEC with the same full bundle of materials used in our classroom course. Built for the Tennessee LLE and CE Electrical Contractor exams; Wisconsin journeyman and master electrician exams; Nevada's ICC G-series and NSCB C-2 electrical exams; the South Carolina Residential Electrical exam; and comparable licenses in other 2017-NEC states, this bundle focuses on NEC navigation, calculations, and realistic exam practice. See our state requirements page before ordering.
This bundle includes the same core JCR curriculum materials used by our classroom students with a 93% pass rate:
- JCR Exam Prep Manual (2017 NEC edition): a unit-by-unit study path with a six-week schedule, video prompts, guided practice, and answer keys. It covers NEC navigation, test-taking strategy, Ohm's Law, electrical formulas, ampacity, overcurrent protection, dwelling and service calculations, grounding and bonding, boxes, raceways, conduit fill, motors, appliances, special occupancies, and math review.
- Study videos: step-by-step instruction across the major exam topics, so you can follow the manual, pause, rewind, and revisit difficult calculations as often as needed.
- Realistic mock exam questions: practice on paper with the Mock Exam Booklet and online with JCR's digital practice tools so you can build code-search speed, test your timing, and identify weak areas before exam day.
- JCR code book tabs: permanent tabs that help you move quickly to heavily tested NEC articles, tables, and sections.

Self-Study Exam Prep FAQ
Quick answers before you order.
Which licenses is this bundle built for?
Exams based on the 2017 NEC: the Tennessee Limited Licensed Electrician (LLE) and CE Electrical Contractor trade exams, Wisconsin journeyman and master electrician exams, Nevada's ICC G-series and NSCB C-2 electrical exams, and the South Carolina Residential Electrical exam, among others. It focuses on the NEC/trade-code portion of the exam: code navigation, calculations, practice questions, mock exam work, and code book organization. See JCR's state requirements page to confirm your exam edition and allowed references.
Will this help for Tennessee?
Yes — the Tennessee LLE and CE contractor trade exams are based on the 2017 NEC. Note that as of July 1, 2026, Tennessee exams are administered by Prov (not PSI), and cities like Nashville, Knoxville, Chattanooga, and Memphis run their own electrician programs. Review JCR's Tennessee guide and the current Prov candidate bulletin before ordering.
Will this help for Wisconsin?
Yes — Wisconsin exams are currently based on the 2017 NEC as modified by Wis. Admin. Code ch. SPS 316. Important: Wisconsin adopts the 2023 NEC effective September 1, 2026, so confirm with DSPS which edition your exam covers when you schedule. Wisconsin also lets you bring SPS 305 and SPS 316 into the exam in a binder.
Will this help for Nevada?
Yes, for the 2017 NEC track: the NSCB C-2 electrical contractor exam and the ICC G-series (G16Y/G17Y/G18Y) exams used for journeyman and master cards. Nevada also offers 2020- and 2023-based ICC exams, so confirm which exam ID you're registered for before ordering 2017 materials.
Is this the same as taking a live JCR exam prep workshop?
It uses the same core JCR curriculum materials, including the manual, video lessons, practice questions, mock exam access, and code book tabs. The live workshops add classroom instruction and direct instructor support.
How long should I study?
Most successful students study for 4-8 weeks. Start with the manual and video lessons, then use the mock exam and digital practice tools to find weak spots and build speed before exam day.
What code book do I need?
This bundle is built around the 2017 NEC. Your exam follows the code edition named in the current candidate bulletin, so confirm that edition and any rules for allowed references, tabs, or highlighting before you study and again before test day.
