JCR prepares both statewide technical exams with the 2020 NEC. PSI and the Maryland Board control experience approval, licensing, insurance, reciprocity, and local registration requirements.

Journeyperson is the supervised working credential. Master is the supervisory and contracting-level credential used to take responsibility for electrical work and qualify a business.
Yes. Maryland’s license is called Journeyperson Electrician, and many electricians still call it journeyman. The JCR Journeyperson package is built for that exam.
JCR doesn’t teach in-person classes in Maryland. Electricians in Baltimore and across Maryland can join the live Zoom class from home or study with a self-study package.
Yes. The current PSI bulletin lists only the 2020 NEC for both statewide electrical exams.
A qualifying approved-apprenticeship graduate may request the Board’s exam waiver when the program and timing requirements are met. The waiver does not eliminate the license application.
No. After passing, submit the appropriate application and fee through the Maryland Board. A contracting business must also satisfy insurance and other operating requirements.
